This book is a translation into English of the fourth edition of a book on dreams, written in Spanish, which has been greatly valued in Spain and the Latin American countries. One of its characteristics is that it is illustrated with drawings of dreams executed by the dreamer. It also contains other kinds of drawings such as reproductions of plastic art works which permit the study of the symbolic processes which intervene in the genesis of dreams.
After giving a general view of unconscious mental functioning, the book describes 164 different dreams together with the dreamer's associations and the respective latent meanings. The dreams quoted in the first part are those of a patient, from the beginning of his treatment to its conclusion. The explicative index of the symbols referring to each dream, found at the end of the book, is a valuable contribution. It is followed by a second index of the symbolized contents, with mention of each of the symbols used.
