This is Volume 5 of 'The Writings of Anna Freud', which are planned for publication by International Universities Press of New York under the editorship of Mrs Lottie Maurie Newman. The aim of the total project is to give all the major writings of Miss Freud. This series is also being published in the International Psycho-Analytical Library. The present volume covers the period 1957 to 1967. The items included in this volume represent the range of Miss Freud's activities towards establishing the Hampstead Child-Therapy Clinic and its courses on the one hand, and addresses to various organizations and introductions to various books, as well as her participation in symposia, on the other. Receiving the Doctoral Award in 1964 at Jefferson Medical College, Miss Freud stated: 'When I return home tomorrow, as a new Sc.D., people not familiar with university usage may ask in which of the sciences I received my doctorate. I hope I have your agreement if I answer: "The science of psychoanalysis, of course".' This volume bears a vivid testimony to Miss Freud's contribution towards establishing the science of psychoanalysis.
