The 29th International Psycho-Analytical Congress took place in London from 20 to 25 July 1975, under the Presidency of Prof. Serge Lebovici. Two invited papers (by André Green and Leo Rangell) were published before the Congress in this Journal, Vol. 56, Part 1. These formed the basis for a full-day discussion at a plenary session on 'Changes in Psychoanalytic Practice and Experience: Theoretical, Technical and Social Implications'. A special feature of the London Congress was the inclusion of three simultaneous 'dialogues' on 24 July. In addition, individual scientific papers were presented, and these are included in this double issue of the Journal.
As usual, the Programme Committee undertook the heavy burden of devising the programme, choosing the papers, speakers, discussants and reporters. They also assumed the responsibility for editing the Congress material.
As Editor, I should like to express my appreciation to the Programme Committee and also to the Executive Secretary of the I.P.A., Mrs Irene Auletta, for their help in co-ordinating the arrangements for the publication of the Congress Proceedings.
