This has been a detailed clinical presentation of the psychoanalytic treatment of an hysterical character. From the case history and the details of the analysis, I have attempted to crystallize a picture of the genetic development of the aggressive drive and to illustrate the role aggression plays in this character disorder. The implications for handling the technical problems in the analysis of the hysterical character have also been detailed in this paper.
