This discussion concerns a rationale for analytic technique based primarily on a developmental orientation and approach. Organized around topics usually considered in beginning courses on analytic technique, efforts are made to extrapolate along developmental lines from the analytic situation with children to that with adults. Concepts and techniques which have been forged in analytic work with adults look somewhat different when approached with these developmental considerations in mind.
