To be held in Jerusalem on May 27, 28, & 29, 1984 at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
The substantial increase in our knowledge of the interpersonal processes that enter into the transference-countertransference interaction has made it necessary to consider further the concepts used in describing processes of internalization and externalization. This Conference is unique in that it has been specifically designed to clarify a specific set of ideas mainly through the presentation of clinical material. The Conference will be held in English, and distinguished speakers from different countries, including WILLIAM W. MEISSNER (Cambridge, Mass.), OTTO KERNBERG (New York), BETTY JOSEPH (London), and RAFAEL MOSES (Jerusalem), with JOSEPH SANDLER (Director of the Freud Centre) as moderator, will present papers specially prepared to fulfil the aims of this Conference. In addition to comments by invited discussants, discussion by participants has been amply allowed for, and every effort will be made to make the Conference an exciting and clarifying experience.
A social programme of receptions and entertainment for participants and accompanying persons is being arranged for the evenings of 27, 28 & 29 May.
The Conference will be open to psychoanalysts and professionals in related mental health fields, but the number of participants will be limited.
On the Wednesday, 30 May, after the Conference there will be a separate all-day post-Conference meeting on A Psychoanalytic View of Child-Rearing Practices in the Kibbutz, with the participation of experts in this area.
Detailed information will be circulated later, but those interested should enquire as soon as possible from:
