We usually publish the main Congress papers in Parts 1 and 2 of the Journal in the year following the Congress. The nature of the theme of the Madrid Congress—'The Psychoanalyst at Work'— has rendered it difficult to publish some papers for reasons of confidentiality. We, therefore, regret that the papers presented by Mrs Anne-Marie Sandler, Dr Scott Dowling, Dr Samuel Ritvo and Dra Myrta Cases de Pereda will not be published.
1984 sees the launching of two schemes which we hope will extend the international character of our two journals. Both schemes were initiated at the Madrid Congress and concern the formation of an Editorial Board for Latin America and an Editorial Board for Europe. The details of these two Boards with names of members and of the Editor for Latin America and the Editor for Europe will be found on the first pages of this volume.
The purpose of the Latin American Board is to help Latin American authors to write papers for the International Journal/Review of Psycho-Analysis. If recommended the paper will be translated into English at our expense and considered for publication.
Much the same considerations apply in the case of the Editorial Board for Europe. Members of the Board are drawn from the different language areas and will help the Editor for Europe to assess papers in the vernacular. Recommended papers will be translated into English at our
