1994 will see the publication of the 75th volume of the Journal and we intend to celebrate this event both by devoting the final issue of the year to the publication of papers by distinguished international colleagues on the theme of 'The Conceptualisation and Communication of Clinical Facts in Psychoanalysis' and by the holding of three celebratory meetings to which those colleagues who are able to communicate in English will contribute.
We envisage that the theme will be addressed in detail by invited speakers who will contribute to a dialogue on one of the following topics. Each speaker will present his viewpoint in the context of a detailed clinical example. The topics, which address the issues raised by the overall theme, are:
1What is a Clinical Fact?
2The Conceptualisation of Clinical Facts.
3Formulations to the Patient.
4Validation in the Clinical Process.
5The Publication of Clinical Facts.
All papers will be in English, which will be the language of each conference. Details of the programme and speakers for each conference will appear in this Journal later in the year. The conferences will be held as follows:
To be hosted by the Columbia University Psychoanalytic Center for Training and Research in association with the other New York Psychoanalytic Institute-Societies who belong to the International Psychoanalytical Association, and arranged by an organising committee comprising Helen Meyers (Columbia Center) as Chairperson and Abby Adams-Silvan (New York Freudian Society); Lawrence Chalfin (The Psychoanalytic Institute, New York University Medical Center); Steve Ellman (Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research) and Ed Nersessian (New York Psychoanalytic Institute).
