As an illustration of the inner experiences of the analyst as they operate in the analytic situation, this paper presents a single analytic hour in some detail. By means of this clinical material, the author seeks to demonstrate how the thoughts, fantasies, memories, bodily movements and autonomic responses that he experienced in this hour affected his interventions, the kinds of transference-countertransference intereactions that developed in the session, and the unfolding of the analytic process.
