The focus of this book lies in the impact of a woman's body on her psyche. According to Elina Mäenpää-Reenkola, a little girl uses her body as a source of pleasure and enjoyment from early on. Maternal desire, touch and embrace awaken the girl's ability to be satisfied enough with herself and her body and to trust herself. Her increasing confidence paves the way to the role of mother, of sexually active woman and a man's companion, but also to her contribution as an independent, creative individual. In these roles, a woman may experience conflicting feelings of lethargy and aggression, which can easily remain unspoken since they arouse strong feelings of guilt and shame.
