This book collects together papers on female sexuality published between 1917 and 1935. The editors suggest they should be read in conjunction with Freud's articles on the subject and that read together, the interplay between them in debate and development of ideas becomes evident. The editors provide biographical notes on each of the contributors, an introductory chapter summarising the debate, and then a brief commentary preceding each paper. There are nineteen papers by thirteen authors: van Ophuijsen, Starke, Abraham, Deutsch, Horney, Muller, Muller-Braunschweig, Jones, Klein, Lampl de Groot, Riviere, Fenichel and Bonaparte. The papers are presented in chronological order.
