Dear Sirs,
It may be of interest to your readers that Sigmund Freud's youngest son, Ernst (1892 Vienna-1970 London), was an architect who counted among his clients in Berlin (1920-33), and after 1933 in London, many psychoanalysts for whom he designed houses, interiors for apartments, consulting rooms and couches. Clients in Germany were Franz Alexander, Max Eitingon, Hans Lampl and Jeanne Lampl De Groot, Sandor Rado, Ernst Simmel, Rene Spitz, Hugo Staub, the Policlinic for Psychoanalytical Treatment of Nervous Diseases Berlin (, ) and the Psychoanalytic Sanatorium Schloss Tegel, Berlin . Clients in England were Ernest Jones, Melanie Klein, David Matthew, Hilde Maas and Kaethe Misch (née Fränkl, later Kate Friedlaender) who planned a psychoanalytical sanatorium in London , as well as Anna Freud's nurseries in Hampstead (London) and Essex. Ernst Freud's architecture is the focus of my current research project and I would be grateful for any information any of your readers might be able to contribute. I seek in particular information about privately owned archival material (especially letters and images) as well as contact information for descendants of the above-mentioned clients.
Yours sincerely,
