Dear Sirs,
Let me thank Dr Koblenzer for his attentive letter, and then answer the challenge posed on the testing of one's interpretative interventions.
My initial point addresses a previous issue: can, or indeed should, interpretations be tested? Though my empiricist soul would gladly rejoice in it, the case is that a sustained focus on testing detracts from our evenly hovering attention and risks pushing our role to the side of obduracy—to a form of traumatogenesis in session, in Ferenczi's wording.
