Thank you for your thoughtful and erudite comment. I am aware of your contribution to Garvey and Layton (2004) and laud this IPA-sponsored examination of the various ways confidentiality is articulated in legal jurisdictions across the four IPA regions. This cross-cultural groundwork is important, not only as a reference for analysts all over the world, but also as a source of conceptual inspiration in our search for more appropriate legal paradigms than the ones usually offered to us in our home countries for protection of the very special listening we offer our patients.
