The Complete Correspondence between Sigmund Freud and Marie Bonaparte was published in French in October 2022. The historian Rémy Amouroux had written his thesis in 2012, using the publicly accessible archives of Marie Bonaparte, which were deposited at the Bibliothèque nationale de France (Amouroux 2012). He then consulted the Marie Bonaparte Collection of the Sigmund Freud Library of the Paris Psychoanalytical Society (PPS). While working with Cécile Marcoux, director of the Sigmund Freud Library and archivist of the Marie Bonaparte Collection at the PPS, he anticipated the opening to the public of the Marie Bonaparte Collection at the Library of Congress, scheduled for 2020, when he immediately went to consult it, and discovered the complete correspondence of more than 900 letters, including those of Freud mainly in German, as well as Marie Bonaparte’s diary. Cécile Marcoux, who had a working relationship with HRH Tatiana Radziwill, the granddaughter of Marie Bonaparte, was able to obtain the rights for an academic monograph to be published by Flammarion. An expert professional translation was provided by Olivier Mannoni,1 and an in-depth critical apparatus to contextualize the letters was developed by Rémy Amouroux.
