Abstract
This paper describes single words that will occasionally appear during the therapeutic communication that stand out as being pregnant with meaning; and when given the proper attention, significantly add to the therapeutic process. The paper describes how to identify these words and ways to utilize these words to mobilize the therapeutic process. Although the literature on language and psychoanalysis is insurmountable, this paper aims to provide concrete examples and vignettes on how the use of particular single words plays out in the therapy room and why.
