asing on her analytic experience, the author tries to show how the epiphany of a reverie during a session can become a source of unexpetcted intuitions about the essence and possible figurability of the emotional experience which is blowing in the hic et nunc of the analytic life, above all when an analyst is in contact with primordial states of the mind, characterized by turbulences of unrepresentable feelings and sensations.
In the practice of an analytic work oriented by the oneiric model of the mind and the analytic cure, proposed in these recent years by T. Ogden (2005; 2017), A.Ferro (2009; 2013), G. Civitarese (2014), J.Grotstein (2007; 2009), the reverie seems to be revealing itself to a contemporary psychoanalyst as an analytic instrument equipped with a varying set of functions. In this paper the author outlines an hypothetical kit of functions, technical uses and analytic effects of a reverie in an analytic process, practicing the idea of the analysis as the transformation in dreaming of the nightmares and terrors which beset and trouble the patient's mind.
Sketches of analytic life become living portraits of the different, possible uses of a reverie as probe and resource for beginnings and developments of an analytic work.
