The results showed that the extraversion and openness of the big five personality traits were mainly positively related to the adventure-seeking dimension of Sensation Seeking; the conscientiousness and agreeableness were negatively related to the disinhibition dimension. Critical thinking mediated the relationship between the extraversion, openness and the adventure-seeking. We can negatively predict individuals with conscientiousness and agreeableness tendencies the disinhibition by the openness of critical thinking while individuals with extraversion, openness by the confidence of critical thinking. The study further explored the relationship between the big five personalities and Sensation Seeking, and reveal the role of critical thinking as a cognitive model in the relationship which reflects the complexity of Sensation Seeking.
