This article aims to examine the constitution of gender identity, from the perspective of the concepts developed by Melanie Klein. To do so, the guideline was the concept of combined couple's fantasy and its developments in relation to identifications, the Oedipus complex and the depressive position. The study allowed tracking and understanding the importance of the combined couple's fantasy throughout the child's development, because this fantasy makes the child create numerous identifications with the parental couple. In this sense, the core of gender identity is characterized by confusion, interweaving and interpenetration of parents; the choice of a dominant in the constitution of sexual identity involves assimilation, discrimination and separation of the parental couple throughout the experience of the Oedipus complex and the depressive position.

Este artigo tem por objetivo examinar a constituição da identidade de gênero, sob a ótica dos conceitos desenvolvidos por Melanie Klein. Para tanto, utiliza como fio condutor no exame da identidade de gênero a fantasia do casal combinado e seus desdobramentos em relação às identificações, ao complexo de Édipo e à posição depressiva. O estudo permitiu rastrear e compreender a importância da fantasia do casal combinado ao longo do desenvolvimento infantil, pois diante dessa fantasia, a criança realiza inúmeras identificações com o casal parental. Nesse sentido, o núcleo da identidade de gênero tem por característica a confusão, o entrelaçamento e a interpenetração dos pais; a escolha de um dominante na constituição da identidade sexual, envolve assimilação, a discriminação e a separação do casal parental ao longo da vivência do complexo de Édipo e da posição depressiva.
