Based on the discovery of the unpublished correspondence between D. W. Winnicott and A. Freud in the Sigmund Freud Archives of the Library of Congress in Washington, the authors reconstruct the clinical case of a young anorexic girl treated by Winnicott. Winnicott took advice from A. Freud, who acted as an unofficial consultant; this treatment explored specific anorexic fantasies that Winnicott did not mention in his work, as well as his therapeutic position towards his patient's family environment.
