Freud and, later, Rapaport and Gill proposed metapsychological points of view they hoped would provide analysts with the means to organize the major findings in the field. The author proposes an open dynamic systems theory as a possible metatheory, as well as five areas of inquiry that can be used to organize, describe, and conceptualize the specifics of any psychic happening. The author illustrates the use of the five areas of inquiry with a clinical vignette.
Primero Freud y luego Rapaport y Gill propusieron unos puntos de vista metapsicológicos que esperaban que podían suministrar a los analistas los medios para organizar los principales descubrimientos de nuestro campo. Yo propongo una teoría abierta de los sistemas dinámicos como una posible metateoría, y cinco áreas de investigación que se pueden utilizar para organizar, describir, y conceptualizar las particularidades de cualquier suceso psicológico. Se ilustra el uso de estas cinco áreas de investigación a través de una viñeta clínica.

Con questo lavoro propongo una teoria dei sistemi dinamici aperti quale possibile metateoria e cinque aree di indagine che possano essere usate per organizzare, descrivere e concettualizzare la natura specifica di qualsiasi accadimento psichico. Illustrerò l'uso delle cinque aree di indagine con una vignetta clinica.
Freud und später dann Rapaport und Gill führten metapsychologische Gesichtspunkte ein und hofften, diese würden den AnalytikerInnen helfen, die wichtigsten Befunde/Aussagen auf ihrem Gebiet zu ordnen. Ich schlage eine offene, dynamische Systemtheorie als die mögliche Metatheorie vor und dazu 5 Bereiche der analytischen Untersuchung, die dazu dienen, jegliches psychische Geschehen in seiner spezifischen Art zu organisieren, zu beschreiben und zu konzeptualisieren. Ich illustriere den Gebrauch dieser 5 Bereiche in einer klinischen Vignette.
