This paper refers to psychoanalytic challenges that the intense use of the internet presents in the treatment process of our adolescent patients. The use of the cyberspace allows to neglect physicality, so that hurtful developmental needs can be avoided or ignored. This may lead to various ways of emotional splits of body and mind. The two cases in the paper show different perspectives: For Mohammed, the internet is a temporary tool to which he sacrifices his bodily needs. John remains in the world of the cyberspace, as his relationships do not offer him support for his development.
