The encroachment of AI into psychoanalysis raises significant concerns. AI apps like ChatGPT, Pi, Claude, and others offer various forms of assistance, but their capabilities in emotional and psychological support are limited because their programming is culled from cognitively based data from the internet. I describe the concept of Emotional Communication, a way of relating that is viscerally based and unique to humans. This paper explores why AI cannot replace psychoanalysis, focusing on the role of Emotional Communication in therapy. I offer case examples of the use of Emotional Communication, which are deconstructed to explain the contrast between a person conducting psychoanalysis and AI offering support.
