This book was originally published in 1916 in America under the title CONTRIBUTIONS TO PSYCHO-ANALYSIS. (The American publisher changed the title of later editions to SEX IN PSYCHO-ANALYSIS). In 1926 The Hogarth Press published another collection of Ferenczi's essays under the title FURTHER CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE THEORY AND TECHNIQUE OF PSYCHO-ANALYSIS, a second edition of which appeared in 1950. As several volumes by other authors have appeared in the Psycho-Analytical Library with somewhat similar titles, to avoid confusion it has been thought advisable to publish this new edition under the title FIRST CONTRIBUTIONS TO PSYCHO-ANALYSIS.
