… Reich's book on character analysis is very startling and is the subject of lively discussion. Some of it is very attractive, but some very surprising indeed. Is it not going too far to postpone all analytic interpretation until the ego resistance has been broken? Is it not wrong that the positive transference cannot be dissolved? I thought that everything false and disturbing could and had to be resolved. To me and many others it seems desirable that you should lead off the discussion of Reich's innovations in our journals and monographs. The question whether one should be so economical with interpretations seems to me to be especially important.
