Haifa, Mt. Carmel, House Dr. Moses
5.ii. 35
Dear Father Freud,
If I had not already heard in Jerusalem at the beginning of January that you were all right and that the torture with the radium had therefore been of some benefit to you, I would have written long ago to enquire about you. I wrote to you for New Year and enclosed a poem called Die Schopfungsromanze, of which I had only the one copy. Did this little opus ever reach you? I myself have had my shoulder to the wheel the whole time, trying to shorten my novel, which had grown too long, and also to work through it and polish it up-as far as my eyes will permit. My left eye has for the moment taken umbrage on account of overwork and my right has still not come back from its vacation. But the resistance has now been circumscribed.
Ever yours
Zweig
