Dear Meister Arnold,
On further reading I see that Auerbach also rejects the scene on Mt. Sinai. But the substitution of Sinai by Kadesh is not peculiar to me but is a conclusion of Ed. Meyer1 and Grossmann.2
Ever yours

The misunderstanding of Egyptian pre-history in Israel's religious development is just as great in Auerbach as in the Biblical tradition. Even their famous historical and literary sense can only be an Egyptian legacy.
Eduard Meyer (1855-1930): Professor in Halle, Breslau, Berlin.
Christian Gottlob Leberecht Grossmann (1783-1857): Professor of Theology in Leipzig.
