[Berlin] 29.x.1913
Dear Professor,
A few days ago I saw at Dr. Eitingon's18 a large and extremely good photograph of you,19 taken in profile by one of your sons. And now I cannot refrain from asking whether it would be possible for him to get a copy of this photo for me. I should be so delighted and deeply grateful.
I hope all is well with you in the Vienna you like so little and I so much. After a long stay in Munich and a walking tour in the Riesen-gebirge with Rainer M. Rilke I am now in Berlin W., Margarethenstr. 12 (c/o Baroness Seidlitz).
Kindest greetings,
Yours, Lou Andreas
Max Eitingon, 1881-1945, was the first of the Zurich group to go to Vienna, 1907; founded the first public psycho-analytic polyclinic and teaching centre 1921 in Berlin, where he practised as a psycho-analyst. He was one of Freud's close friends. He left Germany at the end of 1933: ‘It was not possible to remain here, and there was also no way of preventing the Nazification of everything which had been the basis and content of my work for the last 24 years.’ To Lou A.-S.
In half profile, with folded arms, dating from 1906; reproduced in E. Jones. op. cit. Vol. II.
