[Postcard Forwarded to Salzburg]
[Postmark: Göttingen, 18.7.16]
Dear Professor,
Our letters have crossed. Thank you for yours and do not be annoyed if I add a request to my expression of thanks: might I, perhaps after your return and for a brief period, borrow the two American essays—Holt's The Freudian Wish and Putnam on Adler? I would send them back soon by registered post to Vienna. Or could I get hold of them for myself in some other way? What you say about your Introductory Lectures being ‘crude’ and ‘for the masses’ is not true in this case; on the other hand the most subtle comments one can make on this subject do have an application to people in general. In this mysterious landscape any kind of revelation brings a new impression of it.
Incidentally, this metaphor springs to my mind, because every region seems to be so shrouded in clouds; I sincerely hope that in Gastein you will see something of the summer, which this year seems to be nothing but a date in the calendar.
I have just received a telegram from Rainer [Rilke] to say he has arrived in Munich discharged from military service.
Warm greetings from your
Lou Andreas
