1 July 1918
Vienna IX, Berggasse 19
Dear Frau Andreas
You have, as usual, bestowed great praise on a minor achievement and given in return more than I was able to offer you. I am writing to you today only to beg you not to expect anything of mine in the next number of the Journal. For the time being there is nothing more to come. Not only the normal weariness at the end of a working year, but also other signs oblige me to hold back until I am more in the mood for it. I set out in a few days with my little (twenty-two-year-old) daughter for Budapest, where a friend and new-found patron107 of psycho-analysis has offered us accommodation in his villa, until I get permission to go to the Tatra on 1 August in company with Ferenczi. If it doesn't get too hot I will finish off there the fifth edition of The Interpretation of Dreams, which has now been called for.
As if by a miracle all my warriors are still alive. I send you my best possible wishes for an enjoyable summer and hope I shall hear from you soon.
Yours very sincerely,
Freud
Anton von Freund, 1880-1920, a Hungarian, made it possible for Freud to found the Psycho-Analytic Verlag in Vienna in the summer of 1918.
