Dear Frau Andreas
How gladly I would hear the best of news from you and how gladly would I reply with the same. Instead of that I have only moderately good news. Today the first news of our missing son, dated 24 November, from an Italian military hospital in the war zone. He is already better and is awaiting transport into the hinterland. We do not know what is the cause of his being in hospital— whether accident, wounds or illness. Earlier communications have obviously gone astray.
