Göttingen, 12 Jan. 1922*
Dear Professor,
This is not a proper letter, but a little piece of sentimentality: I cannot send off my letter to Anna without including in it a belated greeting for the New Year. Once again I must thank you for the best things in the Old Year, which were all due to you.
Even though I am no longer with you in Vienna,142 I like so much to think of you going from time to time through the room, or else just looking in as you used to do into Anna's room, as we sat there and cogitated great thoughts and solved in a trice the most obscure of problems.
Major F. has announced a visit with his wife in the near future, but our efforts to find accommodation for them in the immediate neighbourhood have come to nothing. There was only one room without a stove, and one with a stove, but without meals. So she will no doubt have to put up with the […]indener Sanatorium.
