[Göttingen] 30.iv.28
Dear Professor,
Another year has passed, as is proved by the narcissi and primulas in the garden, although it is scarcely credible how much more quickly time seems to pass these days, almost like the contrast between the tempo of the stagecoach and the rocket plane of tomorrow. Now you are separated by only about a month from your Semmering summer, to which you will certainly have been looking forward as to a birthday present, especially since you have equally certainly not allowed yourself any proper break betweenwhiles, as of course you ought to have done. I only hope that there will be a real summer at last, notwithstanding the earthquakes and eruptions, which will doubtless have an apocalyptic influence on the weather.
In the meantime I have frequently wanted to write to you, in order to tell you something of little K., whom I owe to you and who is a source of all manner of pleasure to me. If only I could do justice to her case in this brief summary. Moreover the analysis contained a surprise, which I will try and describe to you. From the beginning it showed itself to be a clear case of hysteria with the typical father-tie, and with anxiety-states in face of situations which render one defenceless,
