Vienna, 12.2.1922
Dear Doctor,
That you have taken the absence of an answer to your last but one letter (which had crossed mine) to mean criticism and dissatisfaction is understandable and yet far from the truth. I did not write to you because I am being eaten up by my scholarly and business correspondence, because I had house guests like Ferenczi and Abraham, because for weeks I have been suffering from a creeping, feverless kind of influenza and in circumstances like these one tends to put off the most intimate letters in particular. What you have heard or will hear of criticism and suggestions for changes from Vienna is not by me but by Rank
