This paper attempts dynamic understanding of the concept of original sin.
The philosophical-religious constructs of five civilizations are briefly reviewed. A preoccupation with interacting opposites with the elaboration of a Force of Good and a Force of Evil is a universal phenomenon of human culture. These dualisms can be described according to whether the dualistic interaction is static or dialectic, and according to its perceived proximity to the psyche of man. The five examples are: Yin–Yang Theory, Zoroastrianism, Gnosticism, Manichaeism and Hebraic dualism.
