The concept of a developmental network is proposed as an elaboration of the present two dimensional model. Correspondence between developmental strands which form part of a developmental pathway is discussed in the light of normal variance, regression, fixation, and progression. A number of strands of development are described which, in the present model, would be regarded as lines.
