The present paper purports to develop some already-existing psychoanalytical ideas and to formulate new ones, only restricted by minimal methodological requirements from eventually becoming metapsychological contributions.
By means of various references, the author postulates the existence of latency as a period of development, asserting the fact that, at around the age of 5 a series of evident psychophysical changes start, that grow stronger in the next two years and are then levelled for some two more years, later to disappear, subsumed in a new psychophysical level of integration, namely puberty.
