In connexion with the editorial by Malcolm Pines in the International Journal I would like to point out the following error in Strachey's translation of 'Das Ich und das Es' (1923) in S.E.Vol. XIX, p. 37 (The Ego and the Id): 'their injunctions and prohibitions remain powerful in the ego ideal and continue, in the form of conscience, to exercise the moral censorship'.
