Beckett underwent analysis for two years (1934–5) with Bion in London before emigrating to Paris where he began work on his most important series of novels. The author of the paper examines these novels for traces of the analytical experience which Beckett broke off, in particular the transposition of the psychoanalytic situation and the working through of the negative transference. In addition, Beckett's heroes or narrators often anticipate the ideas or the formulas which will later be those of Bion. The author is thus led to the hypothesis that Bion was deeply implicated in Beckett's analysis, discovering there several of his own traits (cynicism, withdrawal, depression). Bion and Beckett will each have represented for the other his secret imaginary twin.
