We here inaugurate what we hope will be a regular feature of the Journal. “The Analyst's Notepad” solicits contributions of brief clinical vignettes demonstrating nascent ideas that may not be ready for more formal presentation. Our colleague, Dr. Donald Marcuse, first conceived of this form of published clinical discourse and suggested it to us. It is fitting then that Dr. Marcuse be the first contributor to this section.
