It is particularly fitting in this issue devoted to psychoanalytic clinical education that we present the text of a “supervisory hour” conducted by Dr. Jacob Arlow. The case was presented by Dr. Henry Smith, on the occasion of the Symposium in honor of Dr. Arlow, part I of which was published in Vol. 1, Number 4 of this journal.
With this presentation, we introduce a new feature of the Journal: “The Supervisory Hour.” Readers are invited to submit clinical material about which they may be puzzled, or have some question as to genetic, dynamic, or technical aspects of their case. Members of our distinguished editorial board will then “supervise” the reader in print. We will try to present as many of these supervisions as possible, thus making this the first “interactive” psychoanalytic journal.
