This issue is dedicated to my wife Anita, who passed away April 27, 1997. For sixty years, my thoughts have been the outcome of what has either been reflected back or stimulated by hers. She has been half of the developing ideas in this culminating statement of my psychoanalytic credo and has been with them until almost the end.
