The discussions which took place during this symposium were not recorded because the presenters of clinical material felt this would not be appropriate. Since there was no assigned reporter, regrettably there is no record of the actual discussions, which took place among the panelists and between the panel and the audience. Nevertheless, it was the consensus that an effort should be made to report as much of the discussion remarks as could be recaptured, as this would enhance the subject by giving the flavor of the opinions which were expressed.

Accordingly, I asked a number of people from the panel and the audience to resurrect whatever they could of these interchanges, and to send me their remarks in written form. All the panelists and several of the audience responded. While the results are irregular, I believe that the spirit of the day as it was felt by participants on and off the platform could be gleaned from the remarks offered here. In most cases, the remarks were provided in such a way that they can be quoted and given in the speaker's voice directly.
