This book gathers together the papers of Mrs Dockar-Drysdale which are not already to be found in her two previous publications Therapy in Child Care (1968) and Consultations in Child Care (1973). These volumes have been out of print for some time, although her present publishers have indicated an intention of reprinting them as companions to the new volume.
The book contains twenty-two chapters of varying length. Some are texts of papers given at Conferences in the UK. Others are brief essays of a few paragraphs concentrating on problem topics which perhaps arose in the course of her work as Therapeutic Consultant, the role she fulfilled for twelve years at the Mulberry Bush School before transferring to the Cotswold Community twenty years ago.
The papers bear a strongly individual stamp which reflects the personality of their author. Mrs Dockar-Drysdale produces quite contrasting reactions, with listeners and readers, ranging from admiration to outright dismissal. I suspect this book may produce similarly diverse reactions.
