Since early in 2020, our experience of living and working in the context of a global pandemic has preoccupied and changed us in ways that have felt both distressing and creative. One of the most extraordinary features has been the global nature of this experience, shared simultaneously across countries and cultures, both in the shape of the virus, and in some of our ‘virtual’ solutions and connections. For our next issue in the Journal of Child Psychotherapy (46.3) we want to focus on aspects of clinicians’ experience of 2020 so far, which will be presented and also connected through a commentary on emergent themes to inform our clinical and theoretical discourse.
We are looking for shorter pieces, 2000–3000 words, focusing on various areas of the experience, as it has developed so far. Possible topics could include: working with bereaved children, digital working, working remotely with colleagues, working in the transference remotely, maintaining psychotherapy with younger children online, working on the phone, dialogues between clinicians in different countries, living and working within a polarised environment, beginning work online and assessing … and anything else that you feel you would like to comment on. We encourage submissions from child psychotherapists and child analysts internationally.
The deadline for submissions is 1st January 2021. If you would like to discuss a possible submission please don't hesitate to contact Maria Papadima (maria.papadima@childpsychotherapy.org.uk) or Lydia Hartland-Rowe(lydia.hartlandrowe@childpsychotherapy.org.uk).
