GOOD MORNING, I AM DR. KIRKLAND VAUGHANS, CO-CHAIR WITH Dr. Christopher Bonovitz of the planning committee for this conference, “Where the Wild Things Are Now.” I want to welcome and thank you for attending our first child psychotherapy conference. It is jointly sponsored by the Journal of Infant, Child, and Adolescent Psychotherapy and by Section II of the Division of Psychoanalysis (39) of the American Psychological Association.
I want to extend from the planning committee an expression of our appreciation to the Executive Board of the Journal of Infant, Child, and Adolescent Psychotherapy and to the Board of Directors of Section ll, Division 39 of the American Psychological Association for their support of this conference, financial and otherwise. For me, the past year of working with the members of the planning committee was a real pleasure and a formal education in the intricacies of developing and sponsoring a conference. This team came together and remained focused and committed to our goal of delivering a top-notch conference. I am going to ask the members of the planning committee to stand as I introduce them alphabetically, Drs.: Seth Aronson, Jill Bellison, my co-chair Christopher Bonovitz, Phyllis Cohen, Jackie Gotthold, Elaine Seitz, Sam Weisman, and Larry Zelnick.
While the planning committee was a storehouse of clinical theory and technique, we were most certainly lacking in artistic ability and computer expertise. However, family members of Dr. Jackie Gotthold came to our rescue with the requisite skills, and we want to extend a special thanks to the both of them. Her son, John Watkins, worked very hard to create just the right art design that we proudly display on our conference pamphlet. In addition, her husband, Brian Watkins, served as our webmaster and guru. He not only created and launched our website, he also arranged for the online
payments and provided daily updates to Larry with registration information.
We also want to thank t
