In his early researches into schizophrenia June postulated a “toxic” origin for the disease process. This he has recently amplified in his latest pronouncement at the International Congress for Psychiatry in Zürich, though he has asserted that the “toxin” is consequent upon disturbances of the psyche. Analytical psychologists will therefore be interested in seeing whether any confirmation of Jung's thesis is available.
The remarkable feature of this book, written by recognized authorities in the field, is the almost total absence of positive evidence of somatic change. Every new technical discovery has been applied without significant result.
One cannot help wishing that the same amount of money, time, and talent could be made available for not so apparently hopeless analytic investigations!
