Dr Miller of the Tavistock Clinic here describes some two years of a project which sought to apply psychological and sociological understanding to the problems of the homeless and institutionalized young offender. He details the methods of selection of boys for the project, the social environment in which it was carried out, the effects of institutionalization on the personalities of the boys and how these reinforced the effects of deprivation. He goes on to describe the therapeutic techniques applied, individual, group, and social, and to assess the results, which are promising.
