The author of this paper is interested mainly in comparing Christian existentialist psychiatry with Jung's theory of the individuation process seen as a numinous personal experience of maturation ‘brought forth from psychic necessity’. He is critical of the first for being too didactic, and perhaps not explicit enough about the second to avoid giving the impression that Jung approaches religious phenomena in a mystical way. This in spite of his wanting to deny just that.
