The sixth international congress of the International Association for Analytical Psychology was held in London at the School of Pharmacy, University of London, Brunswick Square, London W.C.I.
Members and spouses numbering 214 had registered, though not all were able to be present. Our professional organizers were again Conference Services Ltd, who acted with their usual unobtrusive efficiency and politeness. This was the first congress with simultaneous translations in four languages (Italian having been added) and the interpreters faced up well to their arduous task, especially during the discussions.
Eleven papers each of about fifty minutes duration were read in the mornings and discussed in the afternoons (except on Saturday). The order was as follows:
| J. Henderson: | Two models for psychotherapy in a changing culture. |
| E. Seligman: | The need for a wider frame of reference in analytical practice. |
| H. Téboul-Wiart: | Symptôme et synchronicité. |
| C. T. Frey: | Überlegungen zum Begriff der Synchronizatät (Jung). |
The contrasts between structural and liminal forces, in the words of Dr Henderson's opening paper, between thinking-type and intuitive-type
| E. Whitmont: |
| Group and Sensory enactment methods in analytical psychology. |
| J. Singer: | Anima, animus and androgyny in the age of Aquarius. |
| M. A. Mattoon: | The neglected functions of analytical psychology. |
| Th. Seifert: | Die Analytische Psychologie im Rahmen der empirisch-psychologischen Forschung. |
| A. Plaut: | Where have all the rituals gone? |
